You might want to say that perhaps Paul was referring to the testimonies about Jesus that were circulating before the Gospel of Luke was written.2 Timothy -16 Perhaps you’re so certain that Luke was written later that Paul’s quotation forces you to say that 1 Timothy must have been written late, and therefore not by Paul.But if this is the move you make, the tail is wagging the dog.But this would have been a wholly unmotivated thing to do.Christians had no reason to say that Luke’s Gospel had been written early if it had actually been written in the 70s or later.
